TRG NAMES EPSTEIN DIRECTOR & SHAREHOLDER
BOSTON, Massachusetts-January 1, 2003 - TRG, a leading turnaround and
crisis management firm, announced today that it has named Michael J. Epstein
to its board of directors. With the appointment, Epstein, 40, a TRG Principal
Consultant since 1999, also becomes a TRG shareholder.
"Michael's experience advising companies in a wide range of industries,
both as an operating manager and a restructuring expert, and his ability
to forge consensus among competing interests in difficult situations,
have made the critical difference to our clients," said Stephen Gray,
founder and Managing Director of TRG. "I am confident he will play
a prominent role in our continued growth, and we are proud to have him
on our leadership team."
Epstein served as a turnaround and crisis consultant with Gray &
Company, the predecessor to TRG, from 1989 to 1993, focusing on restructuring
operating businesses. In 1994, he left the firm to become CEO of CFS Americas,
a subsidiary of CFS Group, plc, a world leader in asset-based financing
software. As CEO, he expanded the company's market reach, establishing
the operating infrastructure for the company's North American operations.
He also served as a member of the CFS board from 1993 until shortly after
his departure.
In 1999, Epstein rejoined TRG as a Principal Consultant. He advises companies
in a wide range of industries, including e-commerce and high technology,
manufacturing and distribution, retail, and financial services. He has
served as Crisis COO, CRO and CFO and as financial advisor to bank syndicates
and creditors' committees. He has developed operational and financial
restructuring plans out of court and in Chapter 11 cases.
He holds a BS in mechanical engineering and economics from Tufts University
and an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
