Case Study: Restaurant Chain

Financial Advisory

Company: $80 million restaurant chain operating 66 stores in the southeast

Situation / Tasks Performed: TRG was engaged by the bank group to provide business advice and consultation. The company failed to update their business concept to effectively compete in the small to mid-size markets. TRG prepared financial projections, performed detailed store analyses and prepared an enterprise valuation. This culminated in recommendations to the bank group that the company should close 22 stores that could enable a satisfactory restructuring. Alternatively, TRG recommended that absent such changes, the bank group should encourage the company to be sold.

Results: After continued poor performance and no reasonable indications that the performance would improve, the entity was sold.
