Case Study: Buying Group for Wholesale and Retail Truck Parts DistributorBusiness Strategy Development & ImplementationCompany: $1.5 billion North American organization of wholesale and retail truck parts distributors with 100 member companies and 500 locationsSituation / Tasks Performed: TRG has had a longstanding relationship as strategic counselor and business advisor to the President and Board of Directors. TRG was engaged by the organization to research and write a Request For Proposal for a sell-side e-commerce system. TRG held several meetings and focus groups with the client and their customers to evaluate the perceived need for such a system. TRG researched e-commerce consulting companies with related system / industry experience, wrote a Request for Proposal, distributed to 30 candidate companies and held meetings with proposal teams from each potential bidder to discuss requirements, status of present systems, proposal process. Results: The Client received 14 proposals. TRG evaluated them and made a final recommendation to the client organization.
